ABOUT Healthy Broccoli Bajji RECIPE

Bajji is a popular snack in South India. It's a favorite in our house too. This version is using the mineral rich broccoli.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Broccoli florets,cleaned washed and pat dried
  2. One cup of chickpea flour/ besan
  3. One tbsp of rice flour
  4. One tsp of red chilli powder
  5. One pinch of asafoetida/ hing
  6. One pinch of turmeric
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Water to make the batter
  9. Oil to deep fry

Instructions

  1. Mix the chick pea flour, rice flour, chili powder, turmeric, salt and Hing together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add water a little at a time and whisk to a pancake batter consistency. Set aside for ten minutes.
  3. Meanwhile prepare the broccoli.
  4. Set the oil for deep fry on the stove. Let it become hot but not smoking
  5. Dip the broccoli in the batter.
  6. stir the florets a bit so that the batter coats better. Now deep fry till golden.
  7. Enjoy hot with cilantro chutney or just sprinkle some chaat masala

Next time tea time snack i will make these. Wont the broccoli be a little hard, what if i steam it a bit before dipping in the batter and frying.
