Bacon Wrapped Prawns

Ingredients to make Bacon Wrapped Prawns

  • 20 medium prawns (about 250 grams)
  • 10 thin strips of bacon (about 100 grams)
  • 11/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste

How to make Bacon Wrapped Prawns

  1. Clean and devein your prawns . Marinade them with all ingredients (except bacon!)
  2. Keep aside for 10 minutes. You could alternately refrigerate for longer if you wish .
  3. Cut the strips of bacon into two , the length of each piece should be around 10 cms or so.
  4. Straighten each prawn, wrap the bacon around the prawn ,making sure the ends overlap . Fix using a toothpick. The end of the head and tail won't be covered
  5. Repeat with all prawns.
  6. Heat a non stick pan on medium low. Place all the wrapped prawns and cook uncovered , turning over every couple of minutes
  7. Cook until the bacon is browned and the ends of the prawns look cooked.
  8. Serve hot , leaving the toothpicks in for easier snacking !

My Tip:

The bacon is salty so it doesn't need any extra salt . This recipe works best with medium to large prawns. If using small prawns, the prawns will cook too quickly - you can precook the bacon, wrap and then cook. Since bacon can tear easily , make sure your toothpick goes through both ends of the bacon.
