ABOUT Balushahi RECIPE

A traditional mithai, buttery & flaky, soaked in sugar syrup and absolutely yum to taste!

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 3 cup maida
  2. 3/4 cup ghee
  3. 1/2 cup curd
  4. 1 tsp baking soda
  5. 1 tsp elaichi powder
  6. 5-6 pistachios or almonds for garnishing
  7. 1+1/2 cup sugar
  8. 3/4 cup water
  9. ghee for frying
  10. water for kneading the dough

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add maida, baking soda, ghee, elaichi powder and curd and knead it into a dough. Rest for half an hour.
  2. Make a one string chasni by boiling water and sugar and let it cool.
  3. Heat ghee for frying. Make small balls from the dough and make a depression in the centre with your thumb. Fry on medium flame.
  4. Fry all the balls in the same way and then put them into the chasni for sometime and take them out.
  5. Garnish with pistachios or almond slivers.
