ABOUT Neer Mor / Chaas RECIPE

A spiced butter milk recipe from South India.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 cup - yogurt / Dahi
  2. 2 cup - water / Paani
  3. 1 Green Chillies / Hari Mirch chopped
  4. 1/2 inch ginger / Adrak chopped
  5. 12 Curry Leaves
  6. 2 tbsp - Fresh coriander / Cilantro / Hara Dhaniya
  7. To taste Salt / namak
  8. A pinch asafoetida / Hing powder
  9. 3/4 tsp - Cooking oil
  10. 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds / Rai
  11. 1/2 tsp - cumin Seeds / Sabut Jeera

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the ingredients, coriander, green chilies ,ginger and curry leaves.
  2. Put the yogurt and chopped coriander,chili,ginger and curry leaves into the blender and grind it together.
  3. Now take out this mixture in a serving bowl. Pour in 2 cups of cold water and salt, mix this well.
  4. Heat oil in a small pan,when it becomes warm add in the cumin and mustard seeds.When the seeds start crackling add the curry leaves and asafoetida.
  5. Add this tempering into the prepared butter milk. Add few ice cubes if you wish.
  6. Mix well and serve instantly.
