ABOUT Red Bell Pepper and Coriander Chutney RECIPE

This is one of my favorite chutneys. I have very fond memories associated with this chutney. My husband’s aunty used to always prepare this chutney when I visited her in West Nyack.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 red bell pepper Large (red colored capsicum)
  2. 4 - 5 green chillies
  3. 2 tablespoons tamarind pulp
  4. salt as per taste
  5. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  6. 1/2 cup coriander leaves
  7. 1 teaspoon jaggery (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a shallow pan. Add oil. Add chopped red bell pepper and chillies to it.
  2. Fry for few minutes, until the bell pepper become soft. Take bell peppers in a blender jar, add chopped coriander, salt, turmeric, tamarind pulp and grated jaggery.
  3. Blend for 2-3 minutes, to form a coarse chutney. If required add a little water. Ensure that the chutney is not too runny.
  4. Savor these with hot idlis, dosas or rice.
