Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 8 pieces Rohu fish
  2. Turmeric powder 1-1/2 tbsp
  3. Red chilly powder 1tsp
  4. Onion paste 1 cup
  5. Ginger paste 1/2 cup
  6. Curd 3 tbsp
  7. Sugar 1 pinch
  8. Raisins soaked 8-10
  9. Bay leaf 1 piece
  10. Cinnamon stick 1.5 inch
  11. Cardamom 4-5
  12. Green chilli 2-3
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Sugar 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Smear the fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder and fry lightly in mustard oil. Keep aside.
  2. Add the cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf in remaining oil.
  3. Add the chopped tomato and 1/2 tsp sugar.
  4. When it is mushy add the onion and ginger paste
  5. Next put in the turmeric powder and red chilly powder
  6. Saute some more till the masala cooks well.
  7. Add a slit green chilly.
  8. Beat the curd with 1/2 tsp sugar and slowly add it to the masala while stirring constantly.
  9. Add salt and some water according to the preferred consistency.
  10. Let the gravy come to a boil.
  11. Add fish pieces and the soaked raisins.
  12. Cook for 2 more minutes. Let the gravy coat the fish well.
  13. Serve hot garnished with raisins.
