Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. FOR THE PASTRY :115g refined flour
  2. 85g unsalted butter chilled and cubed
  3. a pinch of salt
  4. 50 ml chilled water
  5. FOR THE FILLING :450g apples sliced
  6. 225g powdered sugar +a tsp extra for dusting on top
  7. 10g refined flour
  8. a pinch of nutmeg
  9. 20g butter
  10. 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  11. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  12. a pinch of allspice

Instructions

  1. To make the pastry,Take a large bowl , sieve in flour and salt ,then rub in the chilled butter with fingers till mixture resembles breadcrumbs.Mix well and slowly add chilled water to form a stiff dough(add water slowly, using less or more as per requirement)
  2. Chill for 10 minutes in the refrigerator.Roll out thinly(1/8inch).Cut two rounds, for two pies.Let rest for 5 minutes then Lift and spread out carefully over lightly buttered 9 inch pie plate, leaving a bit of a overhang as the pastry shrinks a bit during baking.
  3. Now to make filing-Sprinkle sugar,flour, cinnamon, vanilla, allspice and nutmeg over the apples and then add melted butter.Mix to coat the apple slices well.Preheat oven at 180 C.
  4. Arrange apple slices decoratively over the pie as shown in picture.
  5. Bake at 220 C for 15 minutes.Lower the temperature to 175 C and bake for 60 minutes or until apples are done and crust is golden.

I love pies... Am never tried one... But the way they look and made... It make me tempting.... I want to try one... In this recipe... Wat is nutmeg...what is the role in this recipe ,I mean is it necessary... I have failed in baking breads.... Is there any chances... For me.... That it'll get perfect... Wat am in position now... Please.... Consider my request... Thank you :joy::joy::grin:
