This is an instant and easy chilly pickle that is loved by everyone at my home. Try this in your kitchen by following this easy recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 9

  1. Fresh red chilli 1/2 kg
  2. Yellow mustard seeds 50 grams
  3. White vinegar 1 cup
  4. Onion seeds (kalaunji ) 2 tsp
  5. Mustard oil 3 tbsp
  6. asfoetida [hing] powder 1.5 tsp
  7. Salt 1.5 tsp
  8. turmeric powder 1 tsp
  9. Lemon juice of 2 lemons [The quantity of the lemon juice can be decreased according to personal preference]

Instructions

  1. Soak the mustard seeds in vinegar for approximately 8 hours. Then grind this into a fine paste in a mixer grinder.
  2. Wash the chillies and pat them dry.
  3. Slice the chillies into very thin round slices.
  4. The seeds can be decreased if the spiciness needs to be reduced.
  5. Heat some mustard oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
  6. When heated, add hing and onion seeds.
  7. Now add the sliced chillies.
  8. Saute for 6-7 minutes, then add the mustard - vinegar paste.
  9. Cook for another 5 minutes on a low flame.
  10. Then add salt and turmeric powder. Cook for another 5 minutes and then switch off the flame.
  11. Cool it completely and then add the lemon juice. Give it a good stir.
  12. This is ready to be served, store it in an air tight container. Store it in a refrigerator.
