Red Velvet Dhokla

Ingredients to make Red Velvet Dhokla

  • gram flour 1 cup
  • ginger 1 Teaspoon
  • Green chilli 1 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  • Beetroot purée 1/3 cup
  • water 1/2 cup
  • curd 1/2 cup
  • oil 2 teaspoons
  • sugar 1 teaspoon
  • ENO 1 pouch (5gms)
  • Hung curd 1 cup for icing

How to make Red Velvet Dhokla

  1. Mix together gram flour, ginger, chilli paste, salt, turmeric powder, curd, sugar until blended well.
  2. Now add in beetroot purée and water and mix well.
  3. Keep a greased glass bowl ready for the batter.
  4. Next add in eno and mix gently.
  5. Now pour this batter quickly in the prepared dish.
  6. Microwave it for 2-3 minutes, do a skewer test to ensure dhokla doesn't stick to the skewer.
  7. If it does, microwave it for 30 seconds more and your red velvety, feather light dhokla is ready.

My Tip:

If you wish to give it a muffin look, then this recipe will yield 11-12 cups. Since I made these muffins like, I iced it with the hung curd and it tasted absolutely delicious. This doesn't need any tempering too.
