Ingredients to make Ribbon pound cake

  • eggs 3 nos
  • sugar - 3/4 th cup
  • maida - 1.5 cups
  • butter 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Baking Powder 1 Tsp
  • Milk - 1/4 th cup
  • Edible colors [optional]

How to make Ribbon pound cake

  1. Prepare the cake tin by oiling and dusting some flour on it. Keep aside. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade and then reduce it to 185.
  2. Whisk the butter with the sugar until fluffy and then whisk in the eggs one by one. Add the vanilla essence and whisk again for few seconds .
  3. Sieve the flour with baking powder and keep aside, now fold this flour mix into the egg butter batter alternatively with the milk in 2 batches, mix until everything is mixed properly.
  4. Divide the batter into equal parts in different bowls so that colors can be added to each part.
  5. Mix the colors into the batters respectively, and fold in so that the colors are mixed properly. Now pour the colored batters into the greased baking tin, one by one, and make swirls using a fork to give the ribbon effect.
  6. Bake this for 30-35 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Once the cake is cold enough, decorate the cake as per your choice, i just used royal icing, made with icing sugar, egg whites and lemon juice. cut and serve.
