Ingredients to make Methi matar malai

  • Kasuri methi half cup
  • Fresh matar 1 cup
  • paneer 100 gram
  • kaju 2 tablespoon
  • melon seeds 2 tablespoon
  • poppy seeds half teaspoon
  • Big onion 1
  • salt
  • One teaspoon of sugar
  • oil one teaspoon
  • ghee one teaspoon
  • [chilli + ginger paste] 2 teaspoon
  • garlic 3 cloves
  • Black pepper 1/2 tsp
  • cloves 3 to 4
  • cardamom 2
  • cinnamon 1 inch
  • Kitchen king masala 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/8 Tsp
  • malai 1/4 th cup
  • paneer 100 gm

How to make Methi matar malai

  1. In a pan take 1/2 cup of water add onion, garlic, cashew nuts [kaju], melon seeds, poppy seeds ,cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper and cloves , boil for 5 minutes. Cool it and grind it into a paste.
  2. Soak the kasuri methi in hot water for 5 minutes.
  3. Boil the fresh green peas in hot water for 2 minutes
  4. Heat some ghee/oil in a pan. Add chilli ginger paste. Add the soaked kasuri methi & cook for 1 minute. Add boiled green peas and above onion paste and 1/8 th tsp of turmeric powder.
  5. saute for few minutes and then add 1 tsp of kitchen king masala followed by salt, sugar and 1/4 th cup of malai [cream] and paneer cubes. Cook for 2 minutes and methi malai matar is ready to be served.

My Tip:

You can avoid the turmeric powder to make white gravy of the methi malai matar.
