How to make Microwave Dokla

  1. To prepare Dhokla batter, add Gram flour, Sooji, salt, sugar in a bowl and mix well
  2. Add water little by little and mix well until no lumps are formed.
  3. Add Ginger, grounded chilli, turmeric, lemon juice, oil and mix well.
  4. Keep the batter aside for 10 mins.
  5. After 10 mins add ENO salt and mix the batter lightly.(Note- Do not mix batter too much after adding Eno salt.)
  6. Grease microwave vessel with oil and add the dhokla batter.
  7. Close the vessel with a lid and Cook on high temp for 3 mins in microwave
  8. Check if the batter is cooked by inserting a knife in dhokla. If the knife comes out clean then its cooked. If the batter is sticking to knife heat it again for another 1 min.
  9. Give 2 mins standing time.
  10. To prepare thadka, Keep small pan in a stove and add oil.
  11. When the oil is hot add mustard seeds.
  12. When the mustard seeds splatter, add curry leaves and chilli.
  13. Add water in the pan and add sugar.
  14. Bring the water to boil and switch off the flame.
  15. Transfer dhokla from the microwave vessel to a plate and cut into desired shape
  16. Pour thadka prepared in pan on the top of dhokla
  17. Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves.

My Tip:

– You can skip water in the tampering if you want, the water just gives more quantity of tampering. – Instead of Eno fruit salt you can add baking powder and soda. – You can use curd to make Dhokla batter instead of water
