Baked Masala Chana

Ingredients to make Baked Masala Chana

  • chickpea 250grams
  • cumin powder 1.5tspn
  • chilly powder 1/2 to 1tspn
  • turmeric 1/2tspn
  • amchur powder 1tspn
  • Cooking oil 2tspn
  • salt according to taste

How to make Baked Masala Chana

  1. Soak Chickpea for 6hours or overnight.
  2. Cook in pressure cooker with little Salt. Chickpea must be cooked but not overcooked. Wash Chickpea two times in running water. Pat dry completely using kitchen towel.
  3. Preheat oven @180°C fan forced.
  4. Line the baking tray with parchment paper. Make a single layer of chickpeas. Drizzle all the spices. Remember we cooked Chickpea with little Salt. So add salt accordingly. Add spices and mix well and spread evenly. Pour/ spray half of oil. Reserve remaining for the end. Bake for 2hours. Check for doneness.
  5. Spray reserved oil. Bake for one more hour. Cooking time may vary from oven to oven. Hence keep an eye.
  6. Initially the chickpeas were a bit soft after baking. It gets crisp after cooling down completely.
  7. Transfer to air tight container.

My Tip:

Spices and flavours can be varied according to ones preference.
