ABOUT Sambaram/Spicy Buttermilk RECIPE

One of our favorite refreshing drinks that my appa and girish uncle used to prepare when we returned after enjoying a scrumptious meal during the festival season. It aids in digestion as well as boosts our energy level.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. Curd/yogurt/thayru/thaak - 1/2 cup
  2. Ginger/adrak/inji/alae - 1/2 tbsp
  3. Curry leaves/kady patha/karivepila/karbhapathy - A handful
  4. Green chillies - 2
  5. Water- 1/2 cup
  6. Shallots/pearl onions- 3 -4
  7. Salt to taste


  1. Crush the ginger,shallots and green chilies with the help of a mortar and pestle.
  2. Beat the curd, water and salt together in a mixer jar, next add in all the crushed ingredients. Blend these ingredients well together.
  3. You can do a taste test. It should have the distinct spice of the ginger and chillies.
  4. Transfer it into serving khullads or glasses and serve instantly.
