ABOUT Dates and Walnut Cake RECIPE

This recipe has been taken from Tarla Dalal. The tea cake is a perfect accompaniment with evening tea. This cake comes packed with the goodness of dates, walnuts and whole wheat flour. Contains no maida and a kid friendly recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 6

dates 1 cup
walnuts 3/4 cup
Whole wheat flour 1 1/4 cup
butter 1/2 cup
Condensed milk 1/2 cup
Coffee powder 1 tbsp
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Baking Soda 1 Tsp
Vanilla essence 1 tsp

Instructions

Soak sliced dates in hot water for 30 mins. Once soaked drain and set aside.
Take soft butter and Condensed milk in a deep bowl and whip together using an electric or hand beater until creamy and well combined.
Add the flour, dates, 1/2 cup walnuts, baking powder, baking soda and vanilla. Mix it will with a spatula until well combined.
Pour the batter in a greased tin dusted with some flour and bake it at 180 C for 55 minutes.
Once ready cool it down a bit and unmold. Serve with tea or coffee.
