ABOUT Crab Curry RECIPE

My first attempt at cooking crabs. I had this at my friend Uttara's in Dubai and had fallen in love with it. Got the recipe from her and finally picked up the courage to get some crabs semi cleaned and went on to clean and cook them. All I can say is a huge thanks to her. This is her recipe except I left out the potatoes, used regular oil and added lemon juice at the end.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 small-medium crabs - cleaned, washed and cut in pieces
  2. Paste of 2 onions, 1
  3. 3 medium potatoes cubed
  4. 1 tsp haldi
  5. Some extra chilli powder if you want more spicy
  6. 1 tsp jeera powder
  7. 4 Green chillies slit
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 2 tbs mustard oil
  10. Bit of sugar (optional)
  11. 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil and put in the paste and fry well
  2. When done add 3 medium potatoes cubes
  3. Add 1 tsp haldi some extra chilli powder if you want and fry on medium flame covered till potatoes half done stirring from time to time
  4. Now add the crabs mix well fry add jeera powder mix well
  5. Put in some green chillies slit (to your spicy taste)
  6. Fry on high heat stirring all the time and after a while lower the flame cover and cook
  7. When the beautiful colour comes and the oil comes out put in one cup of warm water mix well and boil on high heat
  8. When it starts boiling again lower the flame and cover and cook till the gravy is light and it's done
  9. Add the salt first in the masala a little and then when you put in the crabs I put in a bit of sugar too (to your taste, optional)
