Presenting the humble breakfast dish common in most households of Odisha for generations - Chuda Kadali Khiri which is flattened/ beaten rice or poha with banana and milk. A power packed healthy breakfast which gets ready in minutes. The ingredients can be customised according to ones preference.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Flattened rice/poha(thick) 1cup
  2. Milk sufficient for soaking poha plus 1/2glass
  3. Grated coconut 2tspn
  4. Sugar/Jaggery 2tspn or according to taste
  5. cardamom powder 1 generous pinch
  6. banana 1


  1. Wash and soak poha in milk till soft. The soaking time will depend on thickness of poha. However as mentioned thick variety poha is preferable for this dish.
  2. Milk must be in room temperature or chilled.
  3. Along with other ingredients add fine slices of banana. Mix well and serve immediately.
  4. In this dish since we add banana its recommended to have it fresh.
  5. One can choose from jaggery or sugar.
  6. Serve cold.
