ABOUT SOYA CHUNKS BRIYANI / MEAL MAKER RICE RECIPE

Meal maker or soya chunks is a soy flour product, a by-product of extracting soybean oil. It is often used as a meat analogue or meat extender. It is quick to cook, with a protein content far greater than that which comes from meat . Its rich in protein and fiber.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Oil 2 tbspn
  2. ghee 2 tbspn
  3. Cloves 2
  4. Bay leaf 2
  5. Star anis 1
  6. Cinnamon 1 inch piece
  7. Mint leaves fistful
  8. Coriander leaves fistful
  9. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbspn
  10. Green chili 1
  11. Onion 1
  12. Tomato 1
  13. Soya chunks 1 cup
  14. Red chili powder 1 tbspn
  15. Coriander powder 1.5 tbspn
  16. Salt to taste
  17. Garam masala 1 tspn
  18. Rice 1 cup
  19. Water 2 cups + 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Soak Basmati rice for 45 mints. Boil water and bring it to roll boil and turn off the stove . Then add cup of soya chunks to the boiled water and cover it for ten mints. Then strain the water from soya chunks. Roughly chop onion, g.chili, tomato,coriander leaves and mint leaves.
  2. In a pressure cooker heat the oil and ghee, add whole spices, onion,g.chili , ginger garlic paste . Once its cooked add the tomatoes and saute well.
  3. Add the red chili powder, coriander powder and garam masala and stir well. Add the soya balls , mint leaves , coriander leaves. Also drain water from rice and add to it.
  4. Add water,salt and give a gentle mix. Once the water bubbles started close and pressure cook in a medium high flame for two whistle.
  5. Serve Briyani with Raita
