Tangy flavouful rice. Perfect for brunch, travelling and kids tiffin.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Basmati rice - 1 cup
  2. Tomatoes - 3
  3. onion - 1
  4. Green chillies -3
  5. Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  6. Curry leaves - a few
  7. Salt to taste
  8. oil
  9. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  10. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  11. Sambar powder - 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Soak basmati rice in water for 20 minutes.
  2. Drain water and 2 cups of water to the rice and cook till soft.
  3. Take a blender and add roughly chopped tomatoes. Blend it and keep the tomato juice aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard.
  5. Then add green chillies and a few curry leaves.
  6. Now add onion, ginger garlic paste and sprinkle salt.
  7. Once the onions are golden brown, add turmeric powder, sambar powder and tomato juice. Saute till the rawness goes.
  8. Add cooked rice to the tomato gravy and mix well. Check for salt.
  9. Serve hot with raita.
