It is very popular dish in West Bengal.Here prawns cooked with potato and cauliflower. It goes well with hot steamed rice.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Prawns - 500 gras (medium size)
  2. Also or potatoes -2 (cut into cubes)
  3. Gobi or cauliflower -1 big (cut into small florets)
  4. Bay leaf -1
  5. Cinnamon stick-2 (each 1inch)
  6. Green cardamom-4
  7. Onion -1 finely chopped
  8. Ginger paste-1teaspoon
  9. Garlic paste -2teaspoon
  10. Tomato -1 chopped
  11. Turmeric powder-(1/2+1/2) tsp
  12. Cumin powder-1teasooon
  13. Red chill powder -1teaspoon
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Water-1cup
  16. Ghee-1tablespoon
  17. Oil-1/2cup

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the prawns
  2. Mix prawns with salt and 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  3. Heat oil in a wok
  4. Add prawns,fry them until light brown
  5. Remove the prawns from wok and keep them aside
  6. Add cauliflower in the same oil and fry them until light red brown colour
  7. Remove from wok and keep them aside
  8. Add potatoes and fry them until light brown colour
  9. Remove the potatoes from heat and keep them aside
  10. Add bay leaf,cinnamon and cardamon in the oil
  11. Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown
  12. In the meanwhile take a cup and add ginger, garlic paste,1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder,cumin and red chili powder and mix all with little bit water
  13. Add this paste in the wok,fry until raw smell of massa goes away
  14. Add chopped tomatoes, fry until oil get separated from oil, add salt
  15. Add fried cauliflower and potatoes, mix well with masala and cook for 2 minutes
  16. Add 1 cup water,bring it boil,when the water will start boiling ,cover with lid and simmer the gas.
  17. Cook until vegetables are well cooked, add fried prawns ,cook for 2 minutes. Switch off the gas Add ghee and mix well.Cover with lid.
  18. Serve hot with plain rice.

Never though of this! But I think prawns will go well with sabji too!
