ABOUT Daab chingri (prawns) RECIPE

Prawns cooked with coconut and spices inside a tender coconut.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Prawns - 10
  2. Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  3. Mustard seeds - 1
  4. Green Chillies - 2
  5. Kasundi - 2 tsp
  6. Sugar - 1 tsp
  7. Salt
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/4th tsp
  9. Mustard oil
  10. Tender coconuts - 2


  1. Make a paste of the grated coconut, green chillies, salt, sugar, mustard seeds and kasundi.
  2. Now add mustard oil to the same. Marinate the Prawns in this.
  3. Fill the tender coconuts with the marinated Prawns and rest of the marinade.
  4. Close the openings of the coconut and bake them for 30-40 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 degree Celsius.
  5. Remove the cooked Prawns from the coconuts and drizzle little mustard oil before serving.
