About Shahi Tukda Recipe

Toasted bread soaked up in delicately flavored 'rabdi' or condensed milk and showered with toasted nuts.

Shahi Tukda

Ingredients to make Shahi Tukda

  • 2 thick slices of white Bread
  • 2 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Condensed milk
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp butter
  • a few strands of saffron
  • nuts for Garnishing
  • 4-5 drops of rose essence/syrup (optional)

How to make Shahi Tukda

  1. Trim off the sides of bread (I usually don’t do this, this is purely optional) and cut diagonally to get two triangles.
  2. Toast these bread triangles on a heated pan for 2 minutes. Turn and apply little butter on browned side and flip on the other side and grease it with butter. Remove and set aside.
  3. Toast nuts in 1 tbsp. of butter until nice golden.
  4. Add milk to saucepan and bring to boil on medium flame by stirring in between till it reduces to 1/3 rd.
  5. Now add sugar and condensed milk. Cook on low for 1 minute. Add toasted nuts and saffron strands. Leave this to cool lightly.
  6. Arrange toasted bread slices side by side on a plate and pour above made thickened milk all over the bread slices.
  7. Serve warm by garnishing with nuts. Leave it in fridge for 20 minutes and serve.

My Tip:

Use 1 day or two old bread for this recipe!
