This chutney is so delicious to eat , try it after lunch to satisfy your sweet cravings . I have used jaggery here as a substitute for sugar .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Tomato red ripe 4 large
  2. Sugar or jaggery 150 gms
  3. Paanchphorin ( mixture of kalaonji , fenugreek seeds , coriander seeds , cumin seeds and fennel seed ) 1/4 tsp
  4. Dry red chilli 3
  5. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  6. Salt as per your taste
  7. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  8. Raisins few
  9. Dry dates few
  10. Dry gooseberry few optional

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut tomato in cubes
  2. Wash raisins , jaggery and gooseberry and soak in little water for some time
  3. Heat oil
  4. Add paanchphoron and dry red chilli
  5. Let them crackle
  6. Add tomato pieces
  7. Add sugar and turmeric powder too
  8. Cover and let tomato be soft properly , it may take 10 mins
  9. If needed add some water
  10. Add chilli powder
  11. Now add sugar or jaggery
  12. Mix and add water , 1 cup
  13. Again cover and simmer for 10 mins
  14. Check for salt and sugar
  15. Switch off gas
  16. Serve cold with hot khichdi
