ABOUT Whole Wheat Cinnamon Spiced Apple German Pancake RECIPE

German pancake is a sweet popover mostly baked in a cast iron pan, sometimes also referred to as Dutch pancake. It's made with flour, eggs, and milk, and seasoned with vanilla and cinnamon. Sometimes fruits like apples or pears are added for extra healthy and kid pleasing option.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  2. 2 apples cored and sliced
  3. 4 tbsp Butter
  4. 4 Eggs
  5. 3/4 cup Milk
  6. 2 tbsp granulated fine sugar
  7. 1 tbsp brown sugar
  8. 1-1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  9. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  10. 1/4 tsp Salt
  11. Powdered sugar for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 Deg F/180 Deg C.
  2. Combine milk, sugar, eggs, 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder, vanilla extract, and salt and blend in mixie till frothy.
  3. Add flour little at a time till all is used up and well mixed with the liquids.
  4. Combine apples, brown sugar, and 1 tsp cinnamon powder.
  5. Heat a pan/skillet/cast iron iron pan. Add butter and let it melt.
  6. Add apple mix to the pan and cook till apples soften.
  7. Transfer apples to ovenproof deep dish/casserole.
  8. Pour the puree over the apples and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake in oven for 18 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
  11. Sprinkle powdered sugar all over the pancake before serving.
