Ingredients to make French Beans Foogath

  • 250 gms French beans
  • 1 medium size onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilly, chopped
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • salt as per taste

How to make French Beans Foogath

  1. Heat oil, once hot add Mustard seeds.
  2. Once it starts popping add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  3. Add onions and sauté till translucent.
  4. Add green chilli and curry leaves and sauté for 30 seconds.
  5. Add turmeric powder, asafetida and sauté on low flame for 30 seconds.
  6. Add beans, coconut and salt and sauté it for 1 minute.
  7. Cover with lid and pour water on lid and let it cook on low flame for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Keep on stirring in between and checking after 3 minutes.
  9. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
