ABOUT Rotli na patra (roti ke Patra) RECIPE

Patra usually made with colocassia leaves. I have create a new version of patra using chapati. It's very easy to make, tasty and healthy too.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 6 whole wheat chapati
  2. 1 1/2 cup besan
  3. 3/4 cup chopped methi leaves
  4. 1 tsp red chilly pwd
  5. 1 tsp coriander and cumin pwd
  6. 1/2 tsp turmeric pwd
  7. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  8. Salt to taste
  9. lemon juice and sugar to taste
  10. Water as required
  11. 1 green chilly chopped
  12. For Tempering:
  13. 2 tbsp Oil
  14. 1 tsp mustered seeds
  15. 1 tsp Sesame seeds
  16. 4 green chili sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Place besan in a bowl, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, sugar and sufficient water and mix into a thick paste. Add salt and mix again.
  2. Apply this paste all over the chapati and roll it tightly. Keep the rolls on a perforated plate and keep it in the steamer. Cover with the lid and steam till done.
  3. Take the rolls out and let them cool completely. Slice into roundels.
  4. Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds and sesame seeds to the oil and when they splutter add the patra slices and toss.
  5. Transfer onto a serving plate, garnish with sesame seeds and coriander leaves and serve hot with tomato sauce and hot cup of tea.
