The mere mention of tuti frutti sends us down the memory lane into our childhood where we all relished the bread that has loads of them in it. These same little beauties are used in these gorgeous soft smooth sweet buns to be had with our daily evening tea or coffee.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole wheat flour 1 cup (measuring cup preferably)
  2. Warm milk 1 tsp heaped
  3. Sugar 1 tsp to add in the yeast mix
  4. Powdered sugar 1/4 th cup
  5. Cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp
  6. Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  7. Tuti Frutti 1/2 cup or more
  8. Warm milk 1/4 th cup

Instructions

  1. Add the yeast and sugar to the warm milk. Give it a light stir and set aside to prove.
  2. Combine all the ingredients mentioned for making the dough adding the yeast mix little by little. If anything remains of the mix, discard it.
  3. You can add a tbsp of butter too in the dough if you wish. I did not add it.
  4. Cover it up and leave it in a warm place to double for an hour. You can also add more of the powdered sugar if you wish. After an hour the dough looks like this after punching it down.
  5. Shape medium sized balls, as seen in the pic and set aside to prove further for about 20 to 30 mins.
  6. After the stipulated time, bake them in a preheated oven on 180° for 20 mins. Brush them with some butter on top and sprinkle some sesame seeds.
  7. This recipe makes about 10 buns. Serve with fresh cream and a hot cup of tea.
