ABOUT Dudh pabda RECIPE

Indian butterfish or pabda fish cooked in milk.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Pabda or butterfish 4 pcs
  2. Nigella seeds 1 tsp
  3. Haldi or turmeric powder as required
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Milk 1 cup
  6. Coriander powder 2 tsp
  7. Mustard oil to cook
  8. Few green chilies
  9. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric powder and keep it for 10 mins
  2. Heat mustard oil and fry the fishes and keep aside
  3. Make a thick paste with coriander powder, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
  4. In the same oil put the nigella seeds
  5. As the aroma comes out add the paste and cook till oil separates.
  6. Now add milk and let it come to a boil
  7. Reduce the flame and add water for desired consistency.
  8. Add salt and slit green chilies
  9. Put the fried fishes and cook covered for 2 mins
  10. Drizzle some raw mustard oil from top and switch off the flame.
  11. Keep it covered for few mins and serve hot with plain steamed rice.
