ABOUT Methi Matar Malai RECIPE

Methi matar malai as the name suggests is fenugreek leaves and green peas cooked in a rich creamy gravy flavoured with mild Indian spices.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Fenugreek Leaves 2 medium bunches
  2. Green Peas 3/4 cup
  3. Onion 1 large
  4. Ginger 1/2 inch piece
  5. Garlic 5-6 cloves
  6. Oil 4 tablespoons
  7. Red chilli paste 1 teaspoon
  8. Dry mango powder (amchur) 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Cinnamon powder 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Fresh cream 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Clean, wash and chop methi leaves.
  2. Wash and drain green peas.
  3. Peel, wash and chop onions.
  4. Peel, wash and grind ginger and garlic to a fine paste
  5. Add ginger and garlic paste and continue to sauté for a minute more.
  6. Blanch the methi leaves in the boiling water and refresh with the cold running water. Heat oil in a pan
  7. Add chopped onions and cook till they are translucent
  8. Add the methi leaves and sauté.
  9. Add red chilli powder and green peas.
  10. Cook for three to four minutes.
  11. Add amchur, cinnamon powder and salt. Mix well
  12. Cook for two to three minutes.
  13. Put some cream and serve.
