Chicken biryani, the name is enough to give someone an appetite. Biryani is a historical dish that came to us courtesy of the Mughals. It is basically rice and meat cooked together with spices. Now the spices are what make chicken biryani so special. More often than not, cloves, and cardamom are an integral parts of biryani that provide the basic flavour to it. Now there are a lot of things still left to experiment on, like the rice you use. Normally it’s a Basmati, but there’s no rule right? You’re free to try anything. After the rice, there come the spices. There is now a trend of making biryani with Schezwan spice. Schezwan is a Chinese spice, mostly hot in taste. Now basically what you do, you boil the rice and then fry it in ghee with chicken pieces. You can watch the chicken biryani recipe video also to help you out. Well, the process is quite easy and simple, the dish, however, is not. Biryani was, is, and will be one of the most asked for dishes in the restaurants and eateries, regardless of what part of the world you are in.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250 gms - basmati rice
  2. 250 gms - boiled chicken
  3. 2 - onions sliced
  4. 2 tsp - ginger garlic paste
  5. 2 tsp - garam masala
  6. 4 - cloves
  7. 1 - black cardamom
  8. 3-4 - black pepper
  9. 2 tsp - ghee
  10. red chilli powder (as per your taste)
  11. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice for 1/2 an hour.
  2. Boil the rice with little ghee.
  3. Heat the ghee in a pan.
  4. Add onions and fry till golden brown.
  5. Now add all the spices and fry for about 10 mins.
  6. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 10 mins.
  7. Add boiled rice to it and cook for 10-15 mins. Keep stirring in between to mix the ingredients well.
  8. Serve the Biryani hot.
