ABOUT Homemade Tutti Frutti RECIPE

I remember eating this along with ice cream, cookies, cakes, etc, everyone including kids and elders love this. My hubby asked me to prepare Dilpasand, a very famous sweet bun in India. Quickly searched recipes for tutti frutti, the final product was yummy and it looked awesome as well.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw Papaya 2 Cups diced into small cubes
  2. Sugar 1 Cup (adjust as per taste)
  3. Water as needed
  4. Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  5. Colors as per your choice
  6. Salt a pinch

Instructions

  1. Chop the papaya and remove the seeds along with the white part. Peel off the skin and chop it into small cubes. It yields around 2 cups of raw papaya. Keep it aside.
  2. In a pot, add 4 cups of water and bring it to a boiling point.
  3. Now add in the papaya pieces and let it boil for 5 minutes.
  4. After 5 minutes, switch off the stove and leave it in the pot for 3 more minutes. Then drain the water and keep aside.
  5. Take a pan, pour in 2 cups of water, add in the sugar and bring it to boil.
  6. Once the sugar is dissolved, add in the papaya cubes, along with a pinch of salt and boil it together with the sugar water.
  7. Continue boiling the papaya cubes until the sugar syrup forms one string consistency. ( It took around 15 minutes for me to reach this stage.)
  8. Next, add in a few drops of vanilla essence and mix well.Take 3 bowls, pour in the sugar syrup into 3 portions along with the papaya cubes.
  9. Add different colors into each bowl and mix well, if the sugar syrup gets crystallized, pour in 1/4 cup water into each bowl and stir well. Keep them aside for 12 hours.
  10. After 12 hours, drain the sugar syrup and spread the papaya cubes over a wire net on top of a plate
  11. Add a teaspoon of sugar and mix well with the tutti frutti so that it doesn't stick to each other. Let them dry till the stickiness is completely absorbed.
  12. Store this tutti frutti in an airtight container and use as required.
