ABOUT Red Wine Brownies RECIPE

A perfect chocolate dessert if you are in a mood for some chocolate & wine, match made in heaven.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 180 ml red wine (any of your choice)
  2. 130 grams all purpose flour
  3. 250 grams granulated sugar
  4. 75 grams brown sugar
  5. 170 grams salted butter chopped at room temperature
  6. 200 grams dark chocolate chopped
  7. 3 eggs at room temperature
  8. 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  9. 11 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  10. 2 tsp instant coffee powder dissolved in 1 tbsp boiling water
  11. 5 strawberries sliced thin for studding

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl add the chopped dark chocolate and chopped butter, melt them on a double boiler stirring till they melt. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  2. While the butter chocolate mixture is cooling slice the thoroughly washed and towel dried strawberries.
  3. Preheat the oven at 170 degrees C. Line a rectangular baking dish with foil or parchment paper. Set aside.
  4. Take the cooled chocolate and butter mixture and add both the granulated sugar and brown sugar, whisk well for about 2 -3 minutes. Now add the red wine and give a good whisk. Next add one egg at a time whisking well with each addition.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and the coffee, whisk well.
  6. Now add the all purpose flour and cocoa powder and fold until just combined.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared rectangular baking tray. Place the sliced strawberries in equal distance on top of the brownie batter.
  8. Place the baking tray on the middle shelf of the oven and bake for about 45 – 50 minutes or until the skewer comes out with only few moist crumbs.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 3 – 4 minutes before removing and placing on wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cool slice into squares and enjoy.
