Hazelnut Caramel Macchiato

Ingredients to make Hazelnut Caramel Macchiato

  • Instant coffee - 2 tsps (add half a tsp more in case you like your coffee strong)
  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • Milk - 2 cups (Half a cup more if you want extra froth)
  • Caramel syrup - 2 tsp
  • Hazelnut powder - 1 tsp

How to make Hazelnut Caramel Macchiato

  1. Take instant coffee and sugar in a coffee mug and add a few drops of water and beat it with a spoon till it is creamy and frothy (approx 15 mins)
  2. While you beat the coffee you'll find it getting thicker and difficult to beat. Add the caramel syrup at this stage and continue beating.
  3. Heat milk till it is hot and frothy. Whisk it a bit to get some extra froth on the top.
  4. Divide the beaten coffee mixture equally in 2 coffee mugs.
  5. Pour the hot milk into the mugs and swirl a spoon inside to mix it. Do it lightly so that the froth doesn't settle down.
  6. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of hazelnut powder in each of the coffee mugs.
  7. Enjoy it with your Valentine everyday not just on !4th Feb

My Tip:

For caramel syrup take 2-3 tbsps of sugar in a heavy bottomed pan and keep it on a low flame. Let the sugar caramelise. Don't stir it. Once the sugar starts changing colour and the granules have melted add half a cup of water. Take it off the flame and stir till all the caramel dissolves giving you a dark caramel syrup. Store in an airtight bottle. Can be used to flavour coffee, cakes and cookies.
