This recipe by Rameshwari Bansod is the perfect one to try at home for your family. The Puranpoli recipe is very simple and can be made in restaurant style using these ingredients. The time taken while preparing Puranpoli is 20 minutes and the time taken for cooking is 25 minutes. This is recipe of Puranpoli is perfect to serve 4 people. Ingredients to make Puranpoli

  • Bengal gram (yellow) 4 cup
  • sugar – 4 cup
  • turmeric powder – ¼ tea spoon
  • green cardamom powder – ½ tea spoon
  • nut meg powder – ½ tea spoon
  • clarified butter (ghee) – 200 gm
  • salt – ½ tea spoon
  • water – 9-10 cup water or as per required
  • For dough – 4 cup wheat flour
  • 2 pinch salt
  • water as per required.

How to make Puranpoli

  1. 1. Wash the bengal gram and add 9-10 cups water into it and cook this pulse into the pressure cooker for 10 min.
  2. 2. After 10-15 min. take out the cooked pulse from the pressure cooker.
  3. 3. Remove the excess water from that then add sugar and salt then mix it well and cooked again on low gas flame till sugar melt. But while cooking you should stir this mixture well.
  4. 4. Grind this whole mixture from Puran machine then add green cardamom powder and nut meg powder in it and again mix it well. This is known as a “Puran”.
  5. 5. Sieve the wheat flour through fine flour sieve. (atteko maid kechalni se chan le).
  6. 6. Take a big bowl and add wheat flour (fine flour) and salt mix it. Then add water as per need but dough must be loose. (don’t make tight dough)
  7. 7. Take a small ball of atta and make a puree size chapatti and stuff this puran and then make a puran roti with help of rolling pin (belan).
  8. 8. On a low gas flame smear the ghee and put it on puranpoli and baked from the both side by applying ghee as per your taste and serve hot.
