ABOUT Beetroot Sooji Halwa RECIPE

My mother in law used to prepare yummy beetroot halwa. Today being my 200th post in my blog, wanted to prepare a sweet. Tried variation of this halwa.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Beetroot (medium size) -1
  2. Rava/Sooji – 1 tbsp
  3. Milk – 1 cup
  4. Milk Powder – 1 tbsp
  5. Ghee – 1 tbsp or more as required
  6. Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
  7. Cashewnuts – 6
  8. Sugar – 1 tbsp
  9. water - 2 tbsp for sugar syrup

Instructions

  1. Remove the skin of beetroot & grate it.
  2. In a pan heat 2 tsp ghee. Saute the beetroot for a while till raw smell goes.
  3. Add milk, sooji, milk powder and cook it till it is soft.
  4. Cool & mash it to a coarse paste (This step is optional).
  5. In another pan add water & sugar and prepare one string syrup.
  6. add the beet root paste, cardamom powder, some more ghee.
  7. Saute till the halwa leaves sides of pan.
  8. Garnish with fried cashews.
