ABOUT Sajjige Rotti RECIPE

Sajjige Rotti is a traditional mangalorean recipe. Sajjige means semolina and rotti means pancake. This recipe is very simple and easy to make and good for breakfast and snacks

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 Cup, Semolina (sooji)
  2. ¼ Cup, Wheat Flour
  3. 2 tbsp, Rice Flour
  4. 3 tbsp, Yogurt
  5. 3 Green Chillies (finely chopped)
  6. 3 tbsp, Coriander Leaves (finely chopped)
  7. 5 to 7, Curry leaves (chopped)
  8. 3 tbsp, Grated Cucumber (optional)
  9. 1 ½ tbsp, Coconut (grated)
  10. ½ tsp, crushed jaggery (optional)
  11. Salt to taste
  12. 1 onion, finely chopped
  13. ½ tsp, Turmeric Powder (optional)
  14. Ghee, as required

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl add semolina, green chillies, coriander leaves, coconut, jaggery, cucumber, salt, onion, turmeric powder, curry leaves and yogurt. Mix well. Now add sufficient water and make a thick batter.
  2. Cover it and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Heat non-sticky pan and drop some ghee over it.
  4. Now spread the mixture over the pan and cover the pan and cook it on low flame. Drizzle more ghee, if required.
  5. Now turn it and cook from the other side too until crisp from both sides and serve hot with chutney, yogurt or sabji.
