Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Fresh Bread Slices(Milk bread)- 6
  2. Ghee/Clarified Butter-3 tbsp
  3. Vegetable Oil - 3 tbsp
  4. Milk -2 1/2 cups
  5. Meetha Khoya/Mawa -1 cup
  6. Saffron -3 strings
  7. Sugar -1 cup
  8. Water -1 cup

Instructions

  1. Take fresh bread slices and cut them into medium size pieces
  2. Add 3 tablespoons of ghee and 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil to a pan.
  3. Fry the bread pieces in the oil and butter until they gets golden brown in color.
  4. Take out the bread pieces onto a separate plate.
  5. Now prepare the sugar syrup by adding equal amount of sugar and water into a saucepan.
  6. Cook until the sugar melts totally.And then switch off the stove.
  7. Now add the bread pieces into the sugar syrup and make sure that all the pieces are dipped into the sugar syrup thoroughly.
  8. Now add milk to a separate pan and let it boil until it gets reduced to half of its volume.
  9. Then add saffron strings and meetha mawa/meetha khoya to the milk and let it cook for 7 minutes by stirring occasionally.Then switch off the stove.
  10. Now add the milk mixture to the bread slices and sugar syrup.
  11. Make sure all the bread slices are dipped into the milk mixture thoroughly.
  12. Garnish it with dry fruits.
  13. Serve it warm. Serve

I just made it & looked like I made the biggest blunder. I followed the recipe as it is, except that I replaced khoya with sweetened condensed milk. It is more like a kheer now. What do I do? I can't manage to get khoya in this place.
