ABOUT Spring Onion Missi Roti RECIPE

Missi Roti is a traditional bread from Rajasthan. It is crisp and leaves you asking for more. The aroma of Besan while it is on tawa is mesmerizing. I have made certain variations to the original recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  2. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  3. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  4. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  5. 1 tsp garam masala
  6. 4 tbsp oil/ghee for moyan
  7. 1 cup washed and chopped green onions
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Ghee for smearing on cooked rotis

Instructions

  1. Mix wheat flour, besan, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala, salt, oil, and spring onions. Leave aside for 5 mins.
  2. Bring together everything and add few spoons of water if required to make a stiff dough. Do not rest the dough
  3. Divide the dough in equal balls. Roll out thick rotis about 1/4 inch thickness with the help of dry flour.
  4. Place the roti on hot tawa and once its slightly done, flip and cook on other side. Keep flipping every few seconds and press with a cloth till both sides are crisp.
  5. Remove on a plate. Apply ghee and serve hot. Can be served with butter, curry, chutney, tea or just like that. Enjoy!
