Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Coarse gram flour-2 cups
  2. Sugar-1 and 1/4 cup
  3. Ghee-1 cup+2 tbsp
  4. Milk-2 tbsp
  5. Cardamom powder-1tsp
  6. Chopped dry fruits for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Take flour in a big bowl.Add 2 tbsp ghee and milk and rub into the flour with both palms.The flour becomes like crumbs.This is called "dhabo" in Gujarati.This helps in getting soft textured mohanthaal.
  2. Keep this covered for half an hour.
  3. Take ghee in a kadai and add this flour. Stir properly. Keep stiring till the flour gives nice aroma and turns golden brown in colour.
  4. Put off the gas.
  5. In another pan take sugar and 1 cup water to prepare chashni.
  6. Keep stiring till you get a 2 string chashni.
  7. Now take the kadai with roasted gram flour and start gas.Gradually add the chashni and stir properly such that everything mixes well. Add cardamom powder also.
  8. Stir and mix for 5 minutes and then pour in greased thali.
  9. Cut after it cools slightly.
