ABOUT Paya (Roasted Goat legs) Curry RECIPE

A delicious indian curry made with Lamb trotters! This is one of the most finger licking and satisfying dishes imaginable.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Goat leg roasted and cleaned - 1/2 Kg
  2. Onion - 1
  3. Tomatoes - 2
  4. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  5. Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
  6. Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  7. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  8. Salt as needed
  9. Oil - 2 tbsp
  10. Cloves - 2
  11. Cinnamon - 1 inch broken
  12. Bay leaves - 1 torn
  13. Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  14. Coconut - 1/4 cup
  15. Sesame seeds - 2 tbsp
  16. Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Take a pressure cooker and add oil and once hot add the cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, fennel seeds and saute. Once done add the chopped onions and saute until translucent.
  2. Now add the ginger-garlic paste. Saute for couple of minutes or until the raw smell goes away.
  3. Next add the tomatoes and fry for 5 minutes.
  4. After that add coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and red chili powder. Mix well.
  5. Add the cleaned goat legs with water (1-2 cups) and leave it to boil until done. It may take up to 10 whistles depending on the tenderness of the meat. Leave it to cool a bit.
  6. In a food processor grind the coconut with sesame seeds and coriander leaves and add this to the cooked meat.
  7. Leave to simmer for 5 - 8 minutes.
