ABOUT Black Carrot Halwa RECIPE

Everyone uses orange carrot for making desserts, not many know about the desserts which can be made with black carrot. My mother used to make Black Carrot Halwa with Black carrot which is much tastier and healthier than orange carrot desserts.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Black Carrot - 1/2 Kg
  2. milk - 100 ml
  3. Khoya (roasted) - 100 gram
  4. Sugar - 125 gram
  5. Ghee - 1 tablespoon
  6. Cardamom Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Cashew pieces- 1/2 tablespoon
  8. Almond pieces - 1/2 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash the carrots, and shred it well.
  2. Place the shredded carrots and milk in Kadai. Let it cook on a medium flame. Cover the kadai with a plate.
  3. As carrot starts to cook up, add sugar in it. Stir it well. Leave the kadai for 5 minutes on a low flame.
  4. After 5 minutes, stir the mixture well on a medium flame.
  5. As the mixture starts to dry, add khoya and ghee, and mix it well for 6 - 7 minutes on a high flame.
  6. Add cardamom powder and pieces of cashew and almond in kadai. Turn the gas off.
  7. Decorate the dessert with cashew and almonds over it, and serve it well.
