ABOUT Apple Crumble RECIPE

A healthy twist to the traditional apple filling, topped with a crisp crumble that is comfort food at its best.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the filling -
  2. 2 apples
  3. 2 tbsp honey
  4. 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  5. For the crumble -
  6. 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
  7. 4 tbsps oats
  8. 2 tbsps brown sugar
  9. 2 tbsp ghee
  10. 6-8 walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C.
  2. Peel and core the apples. Cut into tiny pieces.
  3. Add the apples into a pan with honey. Cook over a low heat for 5 minutes and place in an ovenproof dish. Add the cinnamon.
  4. Place the flour and oats in a bowl and mix well. Slowly add the ghee and mix with finger tips to form a crumb texture.
  5. Cover the fruit with the crumble mixture and press down so that it has been properly sealed. Top with walnuts.
  6. Bake for about 40 minutes until the crumble becomes golden brown. Serve warm.
