Gooseberry Pickle

Ingredients to make Gooseberry Pickle

  • Nellikai (gooseberry) -1/2 cup
  • mustard seeds-1 tbsp
  • asafoetida 1 pinch
  • curry leaves- 3-4
  • red chilly-1
  • chilly powder- 1-2tbsp
  • coriander powder- 1tbsp
  • oil - 2 Tablespoons
  • salt to taste
  • sugar- 1 tbsp
  • lemon juice 1 tsp

How to make Gooseberry Pickle

  1. Wash and boil the gooseberries for 5-7 mins
  2. Take a pan, add oil and allow them to get hot,add mustard seeds ,red chilly, curry leaves and allow them to splutter
  3. Add boiled gooseberries to the pan and saute it well
  4. Add red chilly powder, coriander powder, salt,asafoetida and mix well for some time
  5. When it comes thick, switch off the flame
  6. Squeeze lemon if necessarily.
  7. Serve hot and spicy

My Tip:

Avoid lemon, if gooseberry is sour and tangy
