ABOUT Nariyal Ki Kheer RECIPE

Nariyal ki kheer is a recipe where I did not use rice. Only coconut and dry fruits have been used to prepare it.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Tender Coconut (paani waala nariyal) – 1 (grated without its black skin)
  2. Milk – 1 Litre
  3. Sugar – ¾ Cup or to taste
  4. Green Cardamom Powder – ½ tsp
  5. Dry Fruits – ¼ Cup (Almonds, Pistachios, Cashews - Chopped) and Raisins
  6. Saffron Strands – Few (Optional – I have not added)

Instructions

  1. Crush and soak the saffron strands in 1 tsp warm milk.
  2. In a thick bottom pan boil milk. Keep the flame medium and stir it continuously to avoid sticking at the base until milk gets reduced to half ie. around 500-600 ml.
  3. Now add grated coconut to milk and stir it firmly until it again starts boiling. Cook on low-medium heat for about 15-20 minutes
  4. Add sugar, cardamom powder, saffron and dry fruits. Stir it well and cook it for 5-7 minutes
  5. Garnish it with chopped dry fruits and serve warm or chilled.
