Makhane Ki Kheer

Ingredients to make Makhane Ki Kheer

  • 6 cups milk
  • 3 cups Makhana/ foxnut
  • 3 tsp ghee
  • 3/4 th tin condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tsp elaichi/cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron strands
  • Slivered almonds

How to make Makhane Ki Kheer

  1. In a large vessel, put the milk on low flame
  2. In a large kadhai, put the ghee and roast the makhana till it turns crunchy.
  3. Remove from kadhai and let it cool
  4. In the same kadhai, roast the grated coconut, lightly
  5. Now, grind the makhana coarsely
  6. Add it into the milk and keep stirring for about 5 minutes. Keep the flame on medium high.
  7. Now add the grated coconut also.
  8. Stir for another 5 minutes
  9. Finally add the condensed milk and half of the saffron strands to the milk mixture
  10. Keep stirring till the Kheer thickens to your liking. It will take around 10 to 15 minutes.
  11. Remove from fire and pour into the serving bowl
  12. Garnish with slivered almonds and saffron strands.

Serve hot or cold according to your preference.
