ABOUT Chalimidi( Betal Leaf Shaped) RECIPE

Chalimidi is a traditional and the most important sweet made for every important occasion like marriage, baby shower and festivals.It is believed that this sweet blesses us with good health. Traditional chalimidi is white in colour, but I made in a betal leaf and so added elaichi and pista essence which is in green colour.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Jaggery or sugar-1 cup
  2. water-1 cup
  3. Rice flour ( soaked whole night and drained on cloth for 1 hour and powdered)
  4. Elaichi powder- 1/4 tsp
  5. Elachi and pista essence ( optional) only for this recipe.
  6. Anjeer laddu- small ball

Instructions

  1. In a pan, add jaggery or sugar and boil with water
  2. When we get one string consistency, switch off the stove and immediately keep adding rice flour little by little slowly and mix till it forms a dough.
  3. Keep 1 cup of rice flour but sometimes, we need not add full cup too.
  4. Form like a dough.
  5. Take two plastic sheets or ziplock covers and apply ghee to both sides.
  6. Place a ball of dough and press into leaf shape
  7. Make impressions like leaf and place anjeer laddu and tutti fruity for decoration.
  8. In the raditional method, in chalimidi, we add dry coconut , khus khus seeds.
