ABOUT Naralachi Vadi RECIPE

Traditionally Naralachya Vadya or Coconut Burfi is made by using only three ingredients namely, scrapped Coconut, Sugar and Cardamom powder for flavouring. I have added milk and garnished it with Silver Varq and Pistachios, which is not part of the traditional recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3 cups - scraped Coconut (2 small sized Coconuts)
  2. 2 cups - Sugar
  3. 1 cup - Full fat Milk with Cream
  4. 1 tsp - Cardamom Powder
  5. Ghee for greasing the plate
  6. For Garnishing:
  7. Silver Varakh as much as required
  8. Pistachio flakes

Instructions

  1. Scrape fresh coconut and mix with sugar and milk together in a bowl. Set it aside for approximately half an hour.
  2. Transfer the mix into a non stick pan. Cook over medium flame, 25-30 minutes stirring constantly.
  3. Turn off the flame and add Cardamom powder to the mixture. Mix well.
  4. Grease an aluminum plate and pour the mixture on it. Spread evenly. Cut into squares when it is hot. Allow it to cool and set.
  5. Once the bottom of plate has cooled off completely, remove the Vadis from the plate. Garnish it with Silver Varq and pistachios.
