Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Ingredients To Make Aloo Patties :
  2. 300 – 325 Gms / 3 Mid – Size Boiled Potatoes
  3. 50 Gms / ¾ Cup Rice Flakes or Poha (sprinkled with water)
  4. ¼ Cup Peas
  5. 2 tsp Unsalted Butter
  6. Aloo Tikki Spice Mix ***
  7. Corn Starch Mix ****
  8. Batter *****
  9. Bread crumbs
  10. ¾ tsp Salt
  11. ** Ingredients To Make Orange Tangy Mayo (5 Tbsps):
  12. 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  13. 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  14. 4 Drops Paprika Flavored Orange Food Color
  15. ***Ingredients To Make Aloo Tikki Spice Mix:
  16. ¾ tsp Coriander / Dhaniya Powder
  17. ¾ tsp Yellow Chilli Powder / ½ tsp Red Chilli Powder
  18. 1.5 tsp Cumin/ Jeera Powder
  19. ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  20. ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  21. ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
  22. **** Ingredients To Make Cornstarch Mix:
  23. ¼ Cup Cornstarch
  24. ¼ tsp Baking Powder
  25. ***** Ingredients To Make Batter:
  26. ¼ Cup All Purpose Flour
  27. 1/8 Cup Cornstarch
  28. 1/8 Cup Corn Meal / Yellow Corn Flour / “Makki ka atta”
  29. 2 tsp oil
  30. ¼ tsp Salt
  31. ½ Cup + 2 Tbsp Water(Ice Cold)
  32. Burger buns- 6

Instructions

  1. Start with using cold boiled potatoes. Peel and grate the potatoes.
  2. Make the spice mix with all the coriander powder, garlic powder, black pepper powder, yellow chili powder and turmeric powder and keep aside
  3. Squeeze out the water from the rice flakes and keep aside.
  4. In a saucepan add the butter and then add the peas and the potatoes, add the salt to it to release the salt.
  5. Add in the rice flakes and the spice mix. Mash well and let it cool.
  6. Take a cling wrap and put the mixture in the center. Make a sausage and roll the ends like a sweet and secure the ends with rubber bands.
  7. Roll the mixture till it looks like a thick sausage. Freeze for one hour.
  8. Remove from the freezer, and cut into 2 inch thick patties. Keep aside.
  9. Make the dry mixture with cornstarch and baking powder and keep aside in a bowl
  10. Make the batter with flour, cornstarch, yellow corn meal, oil and salt and add cold water into the mixture. Mix well until smooth. Keep aside.
  11. Take the aloo tikki and dredge in corn flour mix, then into the wet batter and finally into the bread crumbs.
  12. Fry in oil for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Meanwhile make the tangy mayo- Mix together mayonnaise, ketchup and orange color. Keep aside.
  14. Slice the onions and set aside in cold water. Slice the tomatoes as well.
  15. Now to assemble the McAloo Tikki Burger. Slice and toast your burger bun.
  16. Dollop 2 teaspoons of the tangy mayo on the top side of the burger bun. Add drained slices of onions, two pieces of tomatoes and then the fried aloo tikki. Close with the bottom part of the burger. Flip to serve.
