Ingredients to make Anzac cookies

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup dried coconut
  • 150 g unsalted butter
  • 2-3 tbsp golden syrup/honey/maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • water as required

How to make Anzac cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C and place baking tray layered with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the flour, oat flakes, coconut, almonds, brown sugar and white sugar in a bowl.
  3. Heat a pan and add water, butter, golden syrup. Add baking soda and then mix the liquid into the dry flour mixture.
  4. Knead the dough and add water if required. The dough batter should be consistent enough to make cookie balls.
  5. Make 20-25 balls from the flour batter and flatten them using a fork.
  6. Place the flattened balls in the baking tray and bake in the preheated oven until golden, for about 20 mins.
  7. Allow to cool. Store in airtight containers.
