A simple dish without onion and garlic.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 raw green bananas
  2. 1 sprig curry leaves
  3. 2 dry red chillies
  4. 4 tablespoons of fresh grated coconut
  5. 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  6. 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  7. 1 pinch of hing
  8. 2 Cups Water


  1. Peel and chop the green bananas into 1-inch bite sized cubes.
  2. Boil water in a pot, add salt and blanch the bananas until cooked 90%.
  3. Make a paste together with fresh grated coconut and cumin seeds
  4. Heat oil in a kadhai, add the mustard seeds, hing, dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  5. Put in the coconut paste. Mix well.
  6. Add the boiled raw bananas. Adjust salt and sugar.
  7. Add little water if necessary to get the bananas well coated with the masala paste.
  8. Serve hot with plain rice and sambhar.
